Burger & Lobster, need I say more? Actually anything with the word lobster in is going to be good right?
This restaurant chain had pretty much kept itself to London town but has thankfully made a new home in Cardiff city centre on the Hayes.
It’s the bank holiday and Mr C had left me to go to Brighton for a stag, which gave me the perfect opportunity to get Miss S over from Bristol for a girls only night. It predictably, being a bank holiday meant that the British weather was drizzly and a bit cold but never mind, we had only one thing on our minds – lobster!!
Once in you totter up the stairs and into a gigantic space, which was filled with chattering dinners and an impressive looking bar.
We had a 45min wait for a table but that didn’t bother us, we passed the time with probably the only thing that seemed right – lots of catching up and champagne of course!
You’ll be surprised to hear that the time flew by and we were whisked off to a cosy little booth.
They like to keep things simple at the Burger & Lobster, there isn’t a menu, just three options:
1. Burger
2. Lobster
3. Lobster roll
All come with chips, salad and a sauce and all for £20.
We went for the lobster and the lobster roll to share and I’m so glad we did.
We had garlic butter sauce with both and got stuck right in!
Miss S is very handy at getting the meat out of the shells and takes no prisoners.
We went for the steamed lobster rather than the grilled option and it was deliciously sweet with loads of meat.
The lobster roll, was also a good call. The juicy lobster and brioche style bun smothered in the creamy buttery sauce was so good, I could have ordered more than one.
A nice touch was when we were very kindly given some bibs, the necessary tools and a wet wipe before the carnage commenced.
The bibs definitely do come in handy.
We washed most of this down with a nifty little cocktail called a Odalisque which had Havana rum, Sauvignon Blanc, pineapple, jasmine and lime in it.
I think the restaurant is kitted out pretty well, it has a smart/casual vibe, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and there is some cool artwork on the walls.
We had a lovely night and we totally enjoyed the food, the massacre we left proved that…
I’ll definitely be coming again to try the burger, but when there’s lobster on offer I think its going to be a tough choice!
